How to Repair Your Kidneys Naturally Using Baking Soda (and why you should)

Baking soda (also known as sodium bicarbonate) is a solid crystalline powder compound that has numerous uses. Baking soda has been used since the dawn of time in different ways. The compound gained popularity in the middle of the 18th century, when the first baking soda factory was opened by Austin Church and John Dwight in America.

Baking soda can be used for cleaning, beauty products, as a remedy and in other ways. It is a powerful alkaline compound and a natural antacid which can reduce the levels of acid in your stomach and prevent acid reflux. Baking soda is also great for your kidneys, one of the most important organs for our health. We rarely pay much attention to the health of our kidneys, but as they filter a huge amount of blood every day, we should really give them a break every now and then. Failing kidneys can bring numerous problems for your health and can even be fatal if not treated on time.

Here’s how to use baking soda to repair your failing kidneys:

Put ½ a teaspoon of baking soda under your tongue and let it dissolve. The next day, add ½ a teaspoon of baking soda and the same amount of salt in 1.5 l. of water, then drink the whole amount in the next few days. According to experts, kidney patients often suffer from low bicarbonate levels, a condition known as metabolic acidosis which can be neutralized with the help of baking soda.

More than 3 million British people are suffering from chronic kidney disease at the moment, with more than 35 000 of them requiring renal replacement therapy which is costly. This is why scientists from the Whitechapel Hospital in London set out to see how baking soda reduces the effects of kidney disease. It was the first randomized trial of this kind, and has shown that the compound can really help.

The study was done on 134 patients with metabolic acidosis and advanced stages of kidney disease. They were given a baking soda pill for a full year, and their kidney health decline was significantly reduced by the end of the study. Only 9% of the group had fast kidney health decline, but most people had positive results.

Professor Magdi Yacoob, who was involved in the study says that the research offers renewed hope for kidney disease patients. She says that baking soda is a simple and affordable remedy which can provide great results without harming the patient’s quality of life. Further research is still needed before conclusive evidence can be drawn, but for now, the scientists are pleased with the results.
